4th cow with BSE found in US; why you should care

In the US, 80 million+ cows are consumed each year. The USDA only tests 40,000 of those for BSE. A diseased cow hasn’t been found in 6 years. Creekstone did not win; the USDA will not allow independent testing of cows in the US. Therefore the USDA controls ALL testing of cows in America’s food supply and tests the smallest fraction possible. This is how bad they do not want cases to be found. FYI, if we demand the USDA tests all cows in the US for human consumption, it would only cost each of us 10 CENTS EXTRA PER PACKAGE. Beef company profits are therefore more important than our personal health. I’d pay the extra 10 cents, wouldn’t you?

The billions of the top 1% continue to be protected at the expense of the rest of us.

Same as it ever was. At least, same as it’s been since 2004, when my mom died of CJD and I started learning about this.

If you know this and you’re fine with it and don’t care, then God bless. But if you care about what you’re eating, I suggest you think and ask questions.

You know how many of these I’ve seen? I think guys get pissed if one of them doesn’t make it to the poker party, and then they take that guy’s photo and make him a fake OKCupid profile for punishment for breaking the man code. Most of the stuff on this site CANNOT be real!

I get an email from a kid re: Kony. Here is my reply.

(Name withheld), while I admire your passion, I think you need to do some more research. You can start here:

I think it’s important to ask questions. Also, as my father always said, “Follow the money.” I have given money in the past to Invisible Children and the situation has changed and Kony’s whereabouts are unknown. IC is still telling the same story they always have. Their accounting is questionable. The above link will enlighten you to the fact that the “Invisible Children” have grown up and suffer different problems now.
IC’s very popular video is nothing more than propaganda that lacks facts.
It is my wish that people here in our own country would take a look around at the injustices suffered by children in our own society. There are children in our own community who have been abandoned, abused, and neglected. I know this because I have been volunteering at Youthville for the last year with these kids. I wish people in my own city, state, and country would show the passion for homeless and foster children that is being shown for Kony’s victims. I wish you would put up yard signs for the young women who are being trafficked from our community and into the sex slavery trade across our country. These young women are your age. You can learn more at ICTSOS.org.
If you want to make change in society, it takes work. Real work. It takes more than spreading videos and clicking “LIKE” on them on Facebook. To make change isn’t quick, easy, fun, or glamorous. I’ve volunteered well over 100 hours in the last year at Youthville, helped clean up the new drop-in center for homeless teens with ICT SOS, attended an ICT SOS meeting, and even helped out last month at the Kids 4 Kids fundraiser which raised money for Youthville and other similar local charities. I sit with kids on the Youthville campus for up to six hours each week and mentor one teen one-on-one. On a day-to-day basis I have NO idea if and how I am helping each child. But I show up to do the work because I know it is the right thing to do. Often in hindsight, I see the difference I make.
If you and your classmates want to know more about how to research what you have seen Invisible Children spread across the Internet this week, I would be happy to come and speak to your class about it. As a former reporter and published writer, I am more than qualified in this as a journalist — with your teacher’s permission, of course.
And if you and your classmates are moved to make a change in this world, there is no reason why you cannot. Find a cause you are passionate about supporting and lend a hand. I urge you to try this close to home first. You can sign up to volunteer this spring break with United Way. They have 40 different agencies locally who need help with their projects. It would be a valuable experience if you choose to do so. Here is more information.
I very much appreciate your email and wish you the best. Please let me know if you think I can help.
Sincerely,
Heather Larson

Over a period of nearly 30 years, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (L.R.A.) has abducted children and forced the boys to kill their parents (and join his army)  and turned the girls into sex slaves. Joseph Kony has wildly affected the whole African continent. The worst part about this monster abducting kids (over 30,000) is that the American government is aware of it and how bad it is getting, but so far, they have only sent 100 military advisers to assist in the arrest of Joseph Kony.

NO PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE.  Joseph Kony needs to be made famous, his name needs to be everywhere, a household name so everyone KNOWS of his crimes against the children.

I am seeking your help, as a citizen, a human, and a radio broadcaster to help me raise awareness and gain sponsors, (be a sponsor) and event coordinators (from different schools)  for an event on the night of the 20th of April. (all night, i would need to police departments help with this.)
Here’s what I am wanting to do: blanket the streets with posters and yard signs in Derby and Wichita as are the plans to do the same all over the world, in every city, every state, every country on this night.
I need sponsors.

I want to make Kony a KNOWN criminal, a house hold name, and a known terrorist in today’s world.  I want so many people to call our Representatives that it HAS to make an impact in the White House and our government is forced to help this country free their children from this mad man named Joseph Kony.

I want to make the difference in our community, in our world and the lives of these children!  Do you?  I strongly feel that you can help me to help make a difference and your passion will match mine once you view the YouTube video link produced by Jason Russell about Joseph Kony.

Im only thirteen, i cant make a change without you.

I was even on the channel three news at 6pm today. KSN news
Thank you so much for your time,

“I always make this case because I feel like my mom was part of a generation of people who [had] incredible gifts. There was no sweetening of vocals. There was no Pro Tools then. So I feel like people like her really shone because they were just so incredibly gifted and one of a kind. She was very revered for that reason and very well-respected. My mom was a special, cool lady.” — Maya Rudolph
